A Blooming Good Time at Floriade
Share
Every year when spring rolls around, the lawns of Canberra transform into a living rainbow—otherwise known as Floriade. It’s the kind of festival that convinces even the biggest homebody among us that maybe, just maybe, we do like the outdoors after all. This year, the kaleidoscope of petals and pollen brings to life the scientific fields of physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology and botany, reflecting the theme Science and Nature. If you looked closely, you might have found us brewing away amongst the tulips, the rides, the gnomes, and the performances.
It has been a pleasure for us to observe families sprawl out on picnic blankets, friends clink their takeaway cups together, and strangers bond over the universal appreciation of instagram-worthy flower displays. It’s one of those magical events where time seems to slow down. Once the morning haze lifts, everything seems to come alive. People laughed louder, colors looked brighter, and even the ducks seemed to be strutting with purpose. Maybe it’s the sunshine, maybe it’s the scent of a thousand blooms, or maybe it’s just that everyone’s in a good mood because no one’s wearing three layers of clothing anymore. We’ve long lost count of the people wandering past, cameras in hand, with that unmistakable look of "I just saw the best tulip ever."
So yes, as you can tell we had an absolutely blooming good time! We brewed, we laughed, we tried not to get too distracted by the live music (we failed), and we served endless drinks and desserts. Among those, we’re particularly proud of three new concoctions that made their debut under the special spring sunshine, as it feels like potions we’ve plucked straight from the garden
There’s the Floriade Matcha Bloom, a creamy dream of strawberry, pandan and coconut bar, matcha, and a soft swirl of cream—like a picnic in a cup. Then the Passionfruit Garden Tea, our bright, fizzy ode to sunshine, with passionfruit, orange, strawberry, and soda doing a little afternoon dance together. And of course, the Spring Caramel Latte which is espresso, milk, caramel, and a delectable cream macaron perched on top, for that perfect complement of coffee with dessert.
We’ve been serving them up between fields of flowers, watching people sip, smile, and snatch a selfie with their drink. Between the colours and the sugar, everything feels a little lighter, a little sweeter, and it’s clear that spring is finally in full swing.
As the last few days of Floriade wrap up, we’ll continue to do our thing—brewing happiness one cup at a time. If you haven’t wandered through Floriade yet, make sure to grab a drink, take a deep breath, and let spring do its thing. Immerse yourself within the colours and remember that life, like a good drink, is meant to be savoured.
And for those who visited, thanks for stopping by our stall, swapping stories, and sipping something new. We’ll see you again soon, maybe with a little less pollen in the air, but just as much joy in the cup.
